This lovingly researched book identifies each of the persons recorded on the Melrose Parish War Memorials in Melrose, Darnick, Newstead, and Gattonside.
It has a subtitle, 'The Men and their Stories', because for each of those listed on the memorials, there is a short biographical note of those named, and even of 5 men who should have been named on the Melrose War memorial, compiled from a variety of sources including military records, the census, newspapers, and local knowledge. Where possible, photos of the men are included. There is a surname index.
It covers both World Wars, and includes the Roll of Honour of St Mary’s School, Melrose.

This CD contains two maps (around 1857), one of the town of Kelso, and another of the area of the Poor House and a 95 page text document all in PDF format.
The text document contains information on over 400 Kelso families taken from the Poor Roll (and the records of the Kelso Poor House), prison records, Ragged School records and other sources.
It was researched by the late Audrey Mitchell, one of our founder members, and past Chairman. She was well known as a genealogist and wrote many local social history books.

2nd January 2008   An unknown problem with the database caused our Publications List to go wrong. The Publications List has been restored, however we apologise for the 20 minutes that the site was partially unavailable.
4th December 2007   There's a new revised edition of the Crailing and Nisbet MI volume, now as a CD, with 91 additional stones, and photographs of 294 stones. See the Monumental Inscriptions page.
3rd October 2007   There's a new feature - Forums ! To make room for this in the menus, we’ve had to remove Queries from the menu, and you’ll now find links to Queries on the home page, and on the Research page. More about the Forums on our Help page.
18th July 2007   Problems with the database caused our Publications List to go wrong. The database problem has been resolved, however we apologise for the time that the site was partially unavailable.

26th December 2006   The Add a Website form accessed from our Other Websites page has been changed to request the Linkback Address (the address of your page that has a link back to our website), so that we don't have to spend lots of time looking for it.
24th December 2006   Our pages now have a snow effect - just as a bit of fun. There's no snow outside at the moment, and apart from tonight, it's been surprisingly mild for December.
13th December 2006   Our Family Tree Index now includes more charts - about 800 names have been added taking the total to 3824 names. It now includes the names in GEDCOM computer files, too. Search the Family Tree Index here.
7th December 2006   The Contacts page has been updated to show our new magazine editor and the Interests Logon Form has been changed to emphasise that if you change your email address, we ask you let us know, so that those who share your interests can still contact you.

26th November 2006   The Other Websites page has been changed slightly to improve readabilty and make it easier to click links.

16th November 2006   The speakers for the meeting on 19th November listed on our What's On page have cancelled.
Instead, John Rogerson will be speaking on Forgotten Monuments of the Borders.
