Hi, I'm new to this forum, but hoping someone can shine some light on the following query I have:-
From Melrose register of Baptisms and marriages 1802 I have found my John Lees - clothier /Jean Young. They had children born in Channel. Can anyone tell me which county this is in?
Thanks Keira

Don't worry able the name channel as it probably means the Channel Street Area of Galashiels as it is now.

In the past the border between Ladhope in Melrose Parish and Galashiels Parish was the Channel Street area .

In recent years Ladhope has becoming part of Galashiels.

hope this helps.
