Hi everyone - just joined today. I've been researching the Cairns family and have traced the line back to John Cairns, who appears to have been born in 1758 at Innerleithen. The parish record indicates his father was Adam Cairns. John married Alison Wilson and had two sons, Adam and John jr. The records are much stronger from here on. Does anyone recognise these names from their own family histories? I have largely used Scotlandspeople to research the family during their time in the Borders (my line left at the end of the 18th century). I'd like to find out more about the history of their lives in the Borders, but don't really know where to start. I can see lots of links on this site - any pointers would be welcomed!
Many thanks - Alan
