Trying to find my grandfather's family. He lived in Hawick until he went to London to study art, then on to Canada to create the art education in British Columbia. His name is John Kyle and left for Canada in early 1900's.
His father was Andrew Kyle who was a "Carver and Guilder" and owned a shop across from the (now) Horse statue, and aside the Church. Andrew's wife was Agnes (nee Waugh). Agnes used to live with her family at 9 High St.
John's sister (either Emily or Sarah) later lived in what we think was a seniors home or cottage in Bonchester just north of the bridge.
Any additional information will be welcomed.
Thanks

GFox
