I write from South Australia hoping that someone can help with our query. In 1840, four years after the colony was established in South Australia, Daniel Flint and his wife Elizabeth (nee Gendle) arrived on the ship Lysander. The Biographical Index at our local GenealogySA Library contains an entry that states Daniel was born in Lauder in 1807. We have not been able to confirm or counter this and are seeking help. Another family, whose head was William Tod Flint, also came to South Australia, arriving in July 1865. William died on 23 September 1916 and, according to his obituary, was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, about 1841. We think there might have been some confusion between the two families and that our Daniel was actually born in Surrey, England. Does anyone have any information that might help us sort out just where Daniel was born? Many thanks, Judith
