Stephen Simpson	Posted - 07 March 2013 : 07:28:46 We are Aussie Simpsons who have traced our roots back to Thomas Simson and Christian Mitchelhill who married in Oxnam Parish Aug 10 1805. Their son Robert (my GGGrandfather)was born May 20 1819 and emigrated to Australia in 1851. We are interested in finding Thomas and Christian's burial site as well as any other Simson / Mitchelhill information as we are visiting Scotland in May/June this year! We appreciate very much the names and particularly places you have found that are valuable to our family history research. We found the Mitchellhill name on an extract from an Oxnam OPR for Thomas and Christian's marriage, but have found not further reference to it. We paid an Aussie researcher to gather the information on the son Robert at our end and the OPR was in amongst the papers. We've also had a response from Borders FHS directly so are now on the right path. Any further information would be gladly recieved. Sincere thanks Stephen and Jeanette
terianne	Posted - 08 March 2013 : 00:40:55 Did a bit of digging Christian surname was Mitchell no record of Mitchelhill found the fllowing: Christian Simpson - Nee Mitchell, Died 18 April 1863 age 78 at 87 Castlegate, Jedburgh Parents Thomas Mitchell and Agnes Douglas Husband Thomas Simpson - Ag Lab Died pre 1861 Jedburgh Death registered by Son George Simpson lived at Langlee Cottage Jedburgh Census 1841 Thomas Simpson and Christian lived a Dolphington, Oxnam with Son Erskine Census 1851 Thomas Simson and Christian (born Morebattle) lived a Glenburn Lodge, Glenburn Hall Est, Jedburgh - Erskine�s family lived at Oxnam Nook Census 1861 Christy Simpson lived 87 Castlegate, Jedburgh Potential burial sites could be Jedburgh, Oxnam or Howden Hope this helps Anne Turnbull
