William Fulton died in Hawick in 1875. His story in the Hawick Advertiser says he was roadman at Castleweary for about 25 years then governor of the Hawick Jail. Are there any records available this jail?

It's now known as Allars Bank.
Named after the alder trees that once grew there.

The old Hawick jail was up the side of the Town Hall access to Cross Wynd or as some of the older locals call it polisman brae.
As for old records best to try the Heritage Hub in Hawick first they might have an idea, or maybe the Museum Service at Scottish Borders Council.
