PLEASE,has anyone info. on provision during 19th.C..?? My GGgma.left her family in Rox'sire and went to North Northumberland- near Scremerston-where she died of typhus in 1840. Were there no local hospitals? What was the 'mechanism' for the poor (e.g. ag. labs.)?

Thanks,Elma-for your response:I don't have my file with me at the moment; she's Elizabeth Huggan (nee White);b.1840ish;till recently,I thought her, maybe, with an elderly White couple, who show up at S. in C.1841-as Scots!! Since, however, I've located an ISOLATION HOSPITAL at S. MORE LATER. Regards. Ian Blackie..

Hello

What was her name and where in Roxburghshire was she born and where did she live?

Do you know who she went to live with?

She may have received some poor relief from the parish and would probably be named in the Kirk Session records if they have survived

Elma
