I am looking for the parents of Jane/Jean Lorrains .She married William Purves , shoemaker in Duns, Berwickshire in 1908. I believe she then went to live in Berwick on Tweed. I have all their descendents but cannot find her parents names. Any information from anybody related to the Lorrains family would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Daftpiper,
Sorry to take a while to get back to you , not a lot on laptop lately , school holidays and grandchildren have kept me busy . Couldn`t find any connection to my Lorraine , but hope to visit other cemeteries . After further research I have discovered that the Jean /Jane Lorraine who married William Purves 1808 in Duns is not the right one . It seems there were two Jane`s,a Jane Robertson who did marry William Purves and had several children. several more children were born , checked census forms and there was a big gap, making me wonder if Jane R. had died or divorced . Then I had a stroke of luck .While looking for other Purves gravestones in North Road Cem ,Berwick , I found a gravestone with William Purves and Jane Lorraine his wife . Some of the earlier children had Robertson as their middle name , and the later children had Lorraine as their middle name ,also grand children had Lorraine as well. That makes me think there were two Jane`s after all .

Many thanks for your interest , if you come across any Lorraines do please let me know .
Regards
Evelyn

Any luck with the Lorrains at Whitsome?
