Can anyone help with details of death of Walter Douglas, as this would give me his parents and perhaps if I'm lucky some of his relatives who were present.
I'm trying to tie him with Charles to prove he's Charles' father.
Details below,
thanks
Margate Muirden

1. Walter Douglas

sp: Agnes Young (m.irregulary, 1793 confirmed by session;d.1855-Yetholm)

2. Charles Douglas (b.b. perhaps 1798 OPR records)

sp: Elizabeth Tait (m.30th April 1820 confirmed by session)

3. David Douglas (b.1835-Melrose;d.d 1902 aged 71 ?-Cavers)

sp: Janet campbell (b.24 Sep 1841-Lasswade midlothian;m.1856 rregularly )

Margate,

Unable to help with death of Walter Douglas,
despite searching for it for too many years to remember.
I strongly suspect it is not registered as Yetholm did not record deaths pre 1855.
I have Charles born in Yetholm on 27/7/1798 as the third child of 11 between Walter and Agnes Young. I am descended through his sister Rachel who married Jacob Tait (you may have him noted as reporting death of Agnes Young in 1855.
You no doubt know that these were gypsy families.
I have lots of info on the various branches of these families including their part in a murder trial in 1829.
Happy to correspond further.

My mum is convinced that our Young's were connected to the gypsy families but we don't have any concrete evidence.....yet. The furthest back I have got is to my G x 4 g'parents Robert Young & Jane Murdoch who married in or around Stow in 1796. Robert was a shepherd. What would I look for to point them towards gypsy families? Thanks.

Hi all,

I hope that you are still contactable via this thread. My current family tree research has shown that I am descended from David Douglas and Janet Campbell (their son, Charles Douglas, was father of my great-grandmother, Annie Douglas).

I would be really keen to find some more information on this branch of my tree; in particular the information that has been mentioned by Brian.

I hope to hear from you.

Thanks

Lee
