How can I pay for membership in US dollars or a currency other than British pounds sterling ?

You can't. The Scottish banks charge high fees for processing cheques drawn on non-UK banks, and on cheques in a different currency.
In order to cater for them, we would have to charge unrealistically high membership fees, so to keep fees low, we accept payment only in British pounds sterling.

If you have a Diners Club, Discover, Mastercard, or Visa debit or credit card, you can join or renew at http://www.bordersfhs.org.uk/bfhsjoiningform.asp
