I have two lines with some commonalities.Scottish Oliver to SA. William Oliver 1812 & Elizabeth Turnbull arrived 1839. Also John Oliver 1801 & Margaret Purves - a SON came to Aus - Robert Oliver & Jane Hobkirk. Robert fathered a child Isabella Turnbull Oliver in SA.
Any connections? I think this family is related but not John 1801 father of William 1812, brothers?

MarieP You dont give us much to work on? Anyway Elizabeth Turnbull married 14th June 1833 at Jedburgh where there are many Olivers and Turnbulls. Have you no parents details or maybe places where they all come from or born. With the first census being 1841 it is very difficult to help.

Oh dear! I apologise that I omitted that information (just thought you were all mind readers), they all were from Roxburghshire.
William Oliver & Elizabeth Turnbull arrived 1839 aboard DELHI with 2 children. They had a further 8 children in South Australia.

John Oliver 1801 married Margaret Purves and a son Robert 1831 arrived aboard DIRIGO 1854, he married Jane Hobkirk 1853 Roxburghshire and had 11 children in South Australia.Robert was the father of Isabella Turnbull Oliver 1861-1863.

Are the two families possibly related?

Apologies, I clicked a little too fast.

I will research these names asap and see if they are related to my line of Olivers. I have the SAGHS Discs and I am willing to do free look ups for anyone.

Marie,
Have you been in contact with Chaye OLIVER at all?
Sounds like her OLIVER/TURNBULL family to me.
She has posted on this forum, but also has a tree on ancestry
http://www.bordersfhs.org.uk/Forum/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=111 is her profile here.
Chaye and I met on the TMG genealogy cruise some years ago and were fascinated to find that we shared an interest in TURNBULLs - and were the only two at the conference from "down under".
Yes, I know they're common, but one of her favoured candidates for Elizabeth was one of mine just south of the Border.
